“The doors to the world of the Wild Self are few but precious.
If you have a deep scar, that is a door.
If you have an old, old story, that is a door.
If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door.
If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.”
― Clarissa Pinkola Estés
In the laboratory of life, I chose to get my Ph.D. in my own human potential
I have tasted many worlds on my life adventure thus far, and one puzzle piece always leads to the next. I am a deeply creative soul who yearns to be all the things - artist, therapist, archeologist, dancer, professor, unicorn- so choosing a "path" where there really wasn't one has been a complete paradigm shift in learning to listen to my heart and body. If it wasn't for my dedication to showing up consistently for myself and healing my nervous system and my relationship with my emotions, I could not have made space in my inner ecosystem to embody more heart and soul.
First off, I am a highly sensitive and a highly curious weirdo. From a young age, I just knew things. I knew I was here to teach and create experiences for people. I have been a licensed cosmetologist since 1999. So, in many cases, I have been doing "hair-apy" and supporting people to feel better, inside and out, for over two decades. After a couple years behind the hair chair, I knew I needed more challenge and mental stimulation, so I stepped into the higher education box, went to college, and got three degrees in researching how do we "human" here on earth?? :)
I am a life-long learner, (it's my favorite thing!) I always thought I would end up getting my Ph.D. and embodying that college professor that handed you the paradigm shift that could illuminate a larger life. Even though I love learning, it has not been an easy path for me. I'm dyslexic. I don't retain much of anything. Nor do I learn like most people or at least what was offered to me in public and college education! So my highly sensitive body, big emotions, and neurodivergent brain had to take a journey "outside of the box" that included more visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning, so that I could retain and embody what I learned.
I have experience working in many of the systems - schools, state, child services, domestic violence and jails. I have been leading healing classes, parenting groups, and women's circles since 2005 and teaching since 2008 on all kinds of subjects, from psychology 101 to chakra healing techniques. For the last 8 years, I have held sacred space in a private therapeutic practice in Lawrence, Kansas where I offer expressive healing sessions, teach weekly groups, and hold breathwork retreats.

"In many shamanic societies, if you came to a shaman or medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions. When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop finding comfort in the sweet territory of silence? Where we have stopped dancing, singing, being enchanted by stories, or finding comfort in silence is where we have experienced the loss of soul. Dancing, singing, storytelling, and silence are the four universal healing salves."

Why is this all so important to me??!
Little me deserves to be loved and liberated. Hands down. I mean look at her! At 4 years old already drinking the koolaid of who she was "supposed" to be. Already learning how to be rigid and trying to look and be perfect. Fuck that. She deserves to be unleashed as her wild and whimsical true-self for the remainder of my existence and she is taking the stage to lead others in a revolution of authentic expression that is the biggest act of self-love.
What is my purpose?
My Dharma in this life is to help heal trauma and support the collective to deprogram the false narratives that keep us living a small life. It is to offer your inner child a safe place to heal, accept, and remember who you really are. It's also to "teach the teachers" and "heal the healers" (I have only asked the question a million times and that sentence is written in every journal of my healing journey!) I also feel like a part of my purpose is creating the perfect healing environments (classes, workshops, and retreats) for your precious heart to be seen, heard, valued, and witnessed by other healing humans.
I had no choice but to follow my heart and trail-blaze my own adventure that looks very different than that of my family system, friends, or the collective. I had to give permission to my sacred body to guide me on how to heal what lies beneath my conscious mind. It soothes my soul to know I have continuously invested and showed up for my own growth, because I believe when one person heals, we all heal. My healing affects everything and everyone around me and that is my legacy.
I wanted to touch, feel, and experience every type of healing I could participate in. What makes me different is that I did not just go out and read a book or take an online class or weekend workshop to embody this knowledge, I show up and have practiced it daily, for YEARS! Even though I have tasted many modalities, it has been in the solid support network I have created for myself, where on a weekly basis I still see a therapist, work with a consciousness coach, and I am in a mastermind group with other magical women, where I have built the capacity to sustain real growth. I went from being the frozen bodied (ice) Queen of Swords, to the (emotional) Queen of Cups, to embodying the High Priestess and Empress at the same time!
"Self-Care is being Self-Aware" and the choice to participate in healing my own life is a rebellious act. To be a template for a healing, conscious human is an ongoing lifestyle choice that means the world to me.
